Industry Service Announcement
IEST, the Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology, is evaluating
the need for recommended practices on new topics developed by the
Contamination Control Division during ESTECH 2005, IEST's recent annual
technical meeting and exposition.
As part of its research, IEST is inviting comments on the following topics:
--Methods for determining molecular and particulate deposition in
cleanrooms;
--Cleanroom lighting fixtures;
--Cleanroom vacuum cleaning systems;
--Printing on cleanroom paper substrates;
--Methods for cleaning cleanroom and equipment surfaces;
--Garment systems for safety applications in cleanrooms (e.g., chemical,
biohazard);
--Recommended actions following unplanned disruption of cleanroom operations
(e.g., from earthquake, tornado, hurricane, power outage);
--Considerations regarding materials of construction used in cleanrooms;
--Cleanroom facility maintenance (e.g., filter replacement, lamp
replacement, piping and flooring repairs and renovation, hole drilling);
--Fan filter units used in cleanrooms;
--Ability of cleanroom wiping products to clean.
Those who wish to comment on the need for a Recommended Practice on a
particular topic, to provide information on resources about the topic, or to
participate in a Working Group to develop the Recommended Practice, may
contact IEST by e-mail (technicaldept@iest.org), by fax (847-255-1699), or
by phone (847-255-1561).
The IEST just released IEST-RP-CC003.3, Garment System Considerations for
Cleanrooms and Other Controlled Environments.
This Recommended Practice addresses the gowning of personnel as an important
aspect of cleanroom contamination control. It provides non-mandatory
guidance for the selection, specification, maintenance, and testing of
apparel and accessories appropriate for use in nonaseptic and aseptic
cleanrooms and other controlled environments.i
